CBWC Newsletter Subscribers:
As you know, CBWC recently urged our local and stated elected officials to issue a call to TXDOT to ensure that Waller County citizens have an opportunity to be heard after some citizens were denied an opportunity to attend the recent TXDOT Town Hall meeting in Hempstead, Texas on January 22, 2008. Sen. Hegar, Rep. Zerwas, and Judge Ralston all responded to our requests and issued the call. See http://www.wallercountycitizens.org/ann_detail.php?ID=75
Well, we have gotten results. In today's Houston Chronicle, it is being reported that TXDOT will be adding an additional public hearing in Waller County. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/nb/katy/news/5510357.html
This public hearing will be IN ADDITION to the two public hearings that are currently scheduled on Feb. 27, 2008 at the KC Hall in Hempstead and Waller High School in Waller. The time and date of the additional meeting has not yet been announced. CBWC would like to thank Sen. Hegar, Rep. Zerwas, and Judge Ralston for coming to the aid of Waller County citizens and making sure their voices are heard in the upcoming DEIS public hearing process. Their efforts are greatly appreciated.
PUBLIC HEARINGS ON TTC-69 DEIS BEGIN
For those that may not know, the public hearings on the TTC-69 DEIS are beginning. One of the first hearings will be held tonight in Huntsville at the Walker County Fairgrounds at 3925 Highway 30 West, Huntsville, Texas 77340.
A group of citizens in the Huntsville area have organized a protest at tonight's hearing. Donna Pinion donnapinon@hotmail.com said that anyone from your Waller County is more than welcome to join them for the protest. They have people from Trinity & Grimes counties that are participating. We have heard that over 100 farmers and their tractors will be involved.
They are going to have 2 Houston news stations (Ch. 11 & Fox 26), 1 Bryan news station (KBTX Ch 3), local radio station (KSAM), and local newspaper (Huntsville Item) committed to covering this event. Other media outlets were contacted but have not yet responded....They have people working on that.
An information flier and sheet from Ms. Pinion are attached.
We encourage everyone that is availabe to join our friends in Huntsville in their efforts against the TTC-69.
